June Newsletter

Infant One

With warm weather finally here the infants have a lot to look forward to. We will be swimming, taking lots of walks, enjoying the swing at Froggy park etc. We will be learning about vehicles all month. This will include reading books, playing with vehicles, artwork etc. This will involve sensory, literacy, gross motor and fine motor skills.

We will welcome two new friends to our room. We look forward to getting to know Ronin and Brendan and their families. We also say goodbye to Tommy this month. We wish him and his family the best on their new journey at their new home. We will miss you.

Please bring in weather appropriate extra clothes. Also we ask everyone to bring in swim diapers, bathing suits, hats, and a towel.

We sent out a letter asking for parents to bring in 5 pictures of your family for our all about me book. If you have not brought them in yet, please do so. We would like to incorporate our families into our everyday routines.

Thank you so much for your corporation

Infant Two

Welcome Summer!! We 're all looking forward to taking walks and playing in the pool. We were sorry to see Margot leave us, however we have a new Margaux starting on June 6th. We are planning on working on our father’s day art project in the coming week. We want to welcome Ellie to our class. Levi will be moving on to the younger toddler room soon, we will miss him. Hope everyone has a great summer.

Younger Toddlers

The sun is shining, weather has been nice and the kids are enjoying being outside. Please make sure to have a pair of tennis shoes for outside play and walks. We will be busy this summer with activities and water play. We will start our water play this month so please bring a swimming suit and a towel for your child. Our classroom theme will be camping and we are planning a lot of activities such as campfire, nature collage, rock painting etc… We also are planning a teddy bear picnic on July 17th. Please continue to make sure your child has weather appropriate clothing. Be sure to have extra clothes in their drawer as well.

Older Toddlers

We have a lot of fun things panned this June. First we want to say congrats to Lily, Malia, Josh, Dalia, Oliver and Marquae as they join our preschool room Then we wish to welcome Lily, Adriana, McKenzie, will and Juliet. Our curriculum for June will be focused on community workers. We will discuss all the important people who make our town awesome and the jobs going on around us every day. Luckily the beautiful weather will give us
the opportunity to see some workers and transportation vehicles nearby. This will help us explore what some community helpers do. We will make our own fireman and police hats as well as craft up some interactive library fun. We will read Who’s Hat Is This? by Kats Cooper, Bernstein Bears; Jobs Around Town and much more. Speaking of awesome helpers, Happy Father's Day. We have a special treat in store for that week to help
or toddlers discuss the upcoming holiday. Also, it’s getting warmer out so please be sure to have weather appropriate clothes in the drawers. A swim suit as well as a towel and swim diaper is required for pool time. Remember to sign your child(ren) in and out daily. Thank you

It is June in Preschool and it is finally starting to warm up. We are really enjoying playing outside as often as possible. Please make sure your child has weather appropriate clothing and at least two completer changes of clothing at the center.

Pre K

We are enjoying this wonderful weather. We have been going on walks, to the park, and the grassy field. Please start bringing in swim suits/ extra clothes so we can also do water play. We also will be starting some of our field trips. The zoo for our younger friends and Safety Town for the older ones. Along with our outdoor fun, we have been looking at shapes, transportation and ocean animals.

We will still be working on our letters and numbers. We will be trying to use the outdoors to help work on those skills in a fun and more hands on way.

Lastly, we have a baby nursery as our theme in dramatic play. If you have any items that you would like to donate or let us borrow, please let me know. Thanks.

It is hard to believe June has arrived!! We are busy preparing for our school age “Summer Camp”. We still have a few places left, so let us know if you know of anyone looking for a fun and safe place for their school age children. Starting Monday June 13th some of the children will be attending Safety Town for the week. Our 4- year olds will be going to the zoo on Monday June, 13th!! If you are involved in any of these two activities and have not turned in a permission slip, and payment (Safety Town) , please do so as soon as possible before Monday.

Please see below for an attached letter from MaryAnn our board president.

It was great to see so many of our LCCC family at the Family Picnic. What a great way to kick off Memorial Day weekend. The food was wonderful and the Flower Clown was phenomenal. Thank you all for being a part of our amazing community.

Hopefully you are aware, we have had changes to our Board of Directors this year. Our Board is dedicated to supporting the staff, operations and the center as a whole. We look forward to serving all of the centers families especially the children.

We would like to invite you to be an active member of the center and its mission of serving not just the children within its walls, but the community as a whole. Our community has many skills and ideas that can make the center even better.

The board is forming committees. These committees will focus on areas of need and potential growth. These committees are open to any of our community parents and teachers alike. The current Committees are as follows; Fundraising, Facilities, Marketing and Social Media, and Program.

The Fund Raising committee’s focus is to aid in fundraisers and come up with fresh ideas for future opportunities. They will be responsible for everything involved with raising funds for the center.

Our Facilities committee will be focused on the building and grounds; organizing events to maintain and improve the center, as well as making recommendations on updates and upgrades.

Marketing and Social Media will be responsible for generating a buzz about LCCC. From Facebook to our website to press releases and everything else that can get us out there and noticed.

The Program committee will be focused on the curriculum. Looking for ways to empower our teachers and grow their skills in nurturing our kids. A top priority will be the Accreditation processes.

Please consider joining us in guiding Lakewood Community Child Care into a strong, healthy future.

If you have questions or would like to join us, please contact me, or any of our board members.
